We have advised the Runway FBU team on the legal establishment of Runway VC Fund II – the new venture fund launched by the Aker affiliated tech hub at Fornebu, investing in early-stage companies where industrial data and industrial AI are key drivers.

The fund has raised NOK 400 million in its first closing, with the Aker Group, including Aker BP and Aker Solutions, as cornerstone investor. External investors include Halliburton, KLP , Investinor and several prominent private investors.

Runway VC's first fund has invested NOK 200 million in around 20 companies over the past five years and delivered returns of approximately 25% – with unicorn Cognite providing the clearest evidence of the model's potential.

"CLP and the team led by Jakob Villum have been excellent partners throughout the process of establishing the fund. We have even received praise from investors for the professional execution and solid fund setup."

CLP advised on all legal aspects of the fund establishment, from structuring and investor negotiations to regulatory matters. The work was led by partners Jakob Villum and Trine Birgitte Waag Kanestrøm.

"Team Runway FBU brings fantastic and dynamic, energizing spirit, combined with deep expertise in B2B early-stage investments. We look forward to following the Runway portfolio going forward," says Trine Waag Kanestrøm.

The mandate is another example of CLP's position as a leading law firm within Private Equity and Fund Formation.
