Bravida Norge AS prevails on all claims in major construction dispute with Helse Stavanger - Approx MNOK 600 awarded!

On 8 June 2026, the Sør-Rogaland District Court rendered judgment in the dispute between Bravida Norge AS and Helse Stavanger HF concerning claims arising from delayed commencement, project delays and acceleration measures in the New Stavanger University Hospital (Nye SUS) project.
The Court upheld all of Bravida’s claims. Including interest, VAT and legal costs, Helse Stavanger has been ordered to pay Bravida approximately NOK 590 million. In addition, Bravida was fully successful in defending against Helse Stavanger’s counterclaim of approximately NOK 700 million.

Bravida was represented by CLP partners and attorneys Rolf Markussen, Ingvild Hachvaag Andersen, Athina Sofie Helvig Hellesjø, Selma Krogset and Kathrine Nesbakken. The main hearing lasted for almost four months.

The judgment addresses important and principled questions concerning an employer’s responsibility for management, coordination, design development and scheduling in large and complex construction projects, as well as the obligations that arise when fundamental contractual assumptions fail. These issues are particularly relevant at a time when major public infrastructure projects are subject to significant political and judicial scrutiny.

The judgment is not yet final and may be appealed. The deadline for filing an appeal is six weeks.
